Mad River Theater Works is unique. One of only a handful of rural professional theaters in the United States, the Theater Works is committed to producing original plays and performing for audiences that have limited access to professional theater.
Mad River Theater Works develops ORIGINAL PLAYS WITH MUSIC and maintains a repertory of full length and one act shows that are available for PUBLIC PERFORMANCES throughout the year. We present over 50 performances annually at colleges, universities, and arts councils from Florida to Alaska, reaching a broad, multi-generational audience in primarily rural areas. For over twenty-five years the Theater Works has performed PORTABLE PRODUCTIONS in over 125 schools statewide, enabling children in small rural schools to experience live professional theater. Our EDUCATION PROGRAMS and COMMUNITY RESIDENCIES bring local history to life through short plays created by students and community members drawn from memories of their families and neighborhoods.
Our commitment to programs is reflected in our budget. We keep administration to a minimum and 80% of the money we raise is spent for artistic expenses. Each year Mad River Theater Works reaches a combined audience of over 40,000 people in small towns primarily throughout Ohio and the United States. We need your help to keep the plays and performances coming.
As a nonprofit arts institution, the Theater Works raises as much as it can from touring fees, sponsorships, and grants. However, in order to fulfill our mission, a portion of the budget must be raised through the support of friends like you. We call this group THE THEATER WORKS CIRCLE. When you give to Mad River Theater Works, you are supporting the work of the writers, directors and actors who bring the history and culture of our communities to life.
As a member of The Theater Works Circle, you will receive recognition in all programs or newsletters, the Annual Report, and an invitation to The Theater Works Circle donor reception. Mad River Theater Works needs you. JOIN THE CIRCLE!
